When Minneapolis-based firm Christian Dean Architecture was commissioned to __design an environmentally friendly home in the heart of nearby suburb Linden Hills, the firm looked to Mosa’s array of award-winning tiles to outfit floors, walls, showers, and other feature areas. Principal Christian Dean specified several of Mosa’s collections to complement the home’s diversity of eco-friendly qualities, which include a rooftop solar array and heat-reflecting window shades.
In the living area, Mosa’s Terra Maestricht Planks in restrained ceramic hues clad the two-sided fireplace. Also opening to the outdoor deck, the voice-operated fireplace—one of the home’s numerous smart features—is just as technologically advanced as its surrounding tile.
Mosa engineered Terra Maestricht for frost- and impact-resistance, lending it the durability to endure Minnesota’s heavy winters. The fireplace wall achieves a contemporary touch through the dynamic interplay of lines between tile and joint—a hallmark of Terra Maestricht. This elegance carries through the ground level, where the hardwearing Mosa Solids collection in stone grey borders the kitchen.
Christian Dean specified Mosa’s Murals Collection to energize each of the home’s five bathrooms. The versatile collection features near-limitless combinations of ceramic tiles in different colors, sizes, and tones positioned together in a preselected or custom-designed grid. Each tile’s distinct gradations blend harmoniously together to present an expressive composition.
Dean then used the textural variations and nuanced color shading of Mosa’s high-tech porcelain Scenes collection for the bathroom flooring.
