Cressida Bell Paints

Artist Cressida Bell shows us how to create a beautiful hand-painted lamp that makes the perfect gift or addition to your own home

You will need:

  • 1 paper lampshade (Cressida uses Albioncourt)
  • Coloured inks for translucent colour and emulsion for opaque
  • Paintbrush - one thicker, one thin
  • Pencil
  • Stensils (optional)

How to:

  1. Using a pencil draw your chosen __design onto your lampshade, use a stensil if you prefer
  2. Paint your lamp with your chosen colours
  3. Using the thin brush and black emulsion go over the lines you made with your pencil
  4. Leave to dry and your lampshade is complete!

Prefer more of a colouring book experience? Cressida sells lamp kits including a lampshade with patterns already drawn on, all you have to do is paint on the colours.
