On the Move: Bill Bouchey Named Design Director of HOK
Bill Bouchey has joined global architecture firm HOK’s New York office as a principal and director of __design for interiors. In his new role, Bouchey will oversee brand-focused commissions that adhere to the firm’s longstanding experiential __design approach. Bouchey most recently served as design director for VOA Associates and has worked for M Moser Associates and Mancini Duffy, where he contributed to projects for high-profile clients such as Canon USA, Christie’s, and Viacom.
HOK’s firm-wide director of interiors Tom Polucci, AIA, IIDA, heralds Bouchey’s creativity and concept-based design approach. “[Bouchey] will play a pivotal role in our ability to deliver … forward-thinking designs that guide our practice to transformative and empowering solutions,” says Polucci. Currently, HOK’s New York office is contributing to LaGuardia Airport’s $4 billion reconstruction and recently completed the InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel and the Teach for America headquarters.
The announcement of Bouchey’s new role at HOK coincides with two other appointments in support of the firm’s health and wellness initiatives, including a recent partnership with Delos and the International WELL Building Institute. The firm named Mara Baum its sustainable design leader of health and wellness in the San Francisco office, where she will leverage 18 years of experience in the intersection of healthcare design and ecology. The firm also named James Stawniczy the senior consultant of wellness in the New York office. Stawniczy joins HOK after heading the sustainability division at Lendlease.

Luxury furnishings manufacturer Arteriors welcomes Alto Altieri as the national sales manager of contract division. Altieri has previously held roles at JAB USA, Duralee, Robert Allen, and Avant Garde/Master Fabrics.

New York–based design studio MKDA has promoted Brett Hertzler from senior project manager to director of architecture. Joining him is Oscar I. Garcia, who has been named director of hospitality. Both designers will assume their new roles in the firm’s Miami studio.
Champalimaud
Design firm Champalimaud has appointed Robert Vertes as principal. Vertes, who previously held tenure at the Related Companies, will help oversee the hospitality-focused firm’s launch of the Champalimaud Collection, a portfolio of custom furnishings and products.
Patcraft
Shannon Cochran (pictured, left) has been named vice president of creative and product development at Patcraft. She replaces Pam Rainey, who was promoted to vice president of residential hard surface product design for Shaw Industries, parent company to Patcraft.
Wimberly Interiors
Global interior design firm Wimberly Interiors has named Hussain Kamal as associate vice president of the Los Angeles office. Before joining Wimberly, Kamal served as senior vice president and managing director of Wilson Associates.
MatchLine Design Group
Dallas-based firm MatchLine Design Group has hired Emily Winters as a junior designer. Winters, who previously served as a design stylist for West Elm, will assist with interior architectural plans with a hospitality focus.
HGA Architects and Engineers
Melissa Jancourt has become a workplace strategist at HGA. Jancourt, who has more than two decades of experience in interior design and project management, previously served as interior designer/workplace strategist at RSP Architects in Minneapolis.
Kuth Ranieri Architects
San Francisco–based firm Kuth Ranieri Architects has promoted Ethen Wood (pictured, right) to associate. Wood, who joined the firm in 2014, recently completed the Temporary Employee Cafe for SFO Terminal 1 and is currently working on the Balboa Pool Renovation in San Francisco.
Carrier Johnson + CULTURE
J.K. Lim has joined design and branding firm Carrier Johnson + CULTURE as a senior project manager of the firm’s Los Angeles office. Lim brings more than 25 years of experience in design and project management in multi-unit, mixed-use, and commercial sectors.

Bonnie Hoch has joined Thos. Moser Contract as contract sales specialist in New York and Northern New Jersey. Hoch most recently worked at JANUS et Cie and is the vice president of city centers for the IIDA NY chapter.

Commercial interior design firm Ware Malcomb has promoted Jonathan Thomas to regional manager in the firm’s Seattle office. Thomas, who joined Ware Malcomb in 2010, previously was studio manager.

Contract furnishings manufacturer Inscape has announced it will create two operating business units: Inscape, and West Elm Workspace with Inscape. Jim Stelter has been appointed president of West Elm Workspace with Inscape. Brian Mirsky, board vice chair of Inscape Group, has assumed the additional role of CEO of Inscape.
KAA Design
Los Angeles architecture firm KAA Design has named Duan H.M. Tran (pictured, right) as a partner. Tran, promoted to principal in 2014, joined the firm in 2000.
Francis Cauffman
New York–based firm Francis Cauffman promoted three team members—Charles (Chip) Hemphill, Denise Thompson, and Bin Weng—to senior associate. Denis Kovalich has been named associate and Craig Barbieri has been named director of design.
KAI Texas
Dallas-based design firm KAI Texas has welcomed Bonnie Gowan as project coordinator. Gowan brings a decade of experience and previously served as an administrative assistant at Texas Health Medsynergies.

Tim Brown, president and CEO of global design consultancy IDEO, will join the Steelcase Inc. Board of Directors.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Kenneth Weine has been appointed chief communications officer of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Weine, a University of Michigan graduate, most recently worked as vice president of communications and marketing for the New York Public Library.

Architecture, interior design, and branding firm Dyer Brown has announced multiple executive promotions. Heather Stanley has been named senior manager of the firm’s building services studio, Elizabeth Spatola has been named a project manager in the workplace and retail/hospitality studios, Charisse Smith has been named a project manager for corporate services, and Maureen Lyne has been named assistant project manager of building services.
