Furniture Creation Class at USC Breeds Next Class of Makers

About a decade ago, architect David Martin created a furniture creation class for the University of Southern California’s architecture department. “I thought it would last one semester,” he laughs. Ten years later, the studio is still going strong in both spring and fall sessions. Students either __design and create their own piece, or they study and craft one of the classics by such masters as Pierre Chareau or Jean Prouve. Photographer Art Gray and I been fortunate to be part of the jury critiquing final presentations throughout. Take at look at results from this year’s up-and-coming makers.
