8 Teams Design Sustainable Quilts for IIDA NY Auction
The New York chapter of the IIDA hosted its ninth annual Sustainable Quilt Auction on March 15 at the Steelcase showroom in Columbus Circle. Eight teams of designers created elaborate quilts using discarded fabric samples that were auctioned off; proceeds of the sales benefitted Publicolor, a youth development program. The teams were comprised of designers from leading firms and organizations, including TPG Architecture, Gensler, and IA Interior Architects, that collectively spent over 2,000 hours crafting one-of-a-kind quilts from recycled material.
