Burberry to showcase Henry Moore's most dramatic sculptures
Burberry is innovatively presenting its February collection alongside the dramatic Henry Moore sculptures that inspired it.
Moore's abstract, curving sculptures were the inspiration behind the latest collection, and they will be going on show at Makers House, featuring sculptures, bronzes, working models, drawings and maquettes.
Christopher Bailey, Burberry's chief creative and chief executive officer, reflected on the influence that Moore's work has had on his own designs. "Looking at, and thinking about, his work set up a series of conversations as we began working on our latest collection," said Bailey, adding that the exhibition is intended to reflect the "enormous contribution" that Moore made to contemporary art.
The exhibition, entitled Henry Moore: Inspiration & Process, will run from 21st to 27th February, and be accompanied by workshops, events and acoustic performances at Makers House, a vast old bookshop with its own leafy courtyard.
Moore was the first British artist to become globally recognised in his own lifetime, and he came to symbolise post-war modernism. This is a unique opportunity to explore his powerful work in London, alongside Burberry's February collection.
