Rubelli and Eataly Unite for Expo Milano 2015

Italian textile and design company Rubelli and Italian food and wine emporium Eataly have joined forces for this year’s Expo Milano. For the six-month event, Rubelli has created a series of textile installations depicting the impact between food and design that will be on display in Eataly’s pavilion. Curated by Italian art critic and historian Vittorio Sgarbi, Rosso Reale features red as the dominant color in a nod to the country’s wine culture and includes two pieces: a 15th-century tunic from Rubelli’s archives and a contemporary piece by designers from Venice’s maison that features Italian food staples like grains, olive oil, and fish. Before the expo, Rosso Reale was on display at the Fontanafredda winery at Serralunga d’Alba, in the Italian region Piedmont.

“We are thrilled to partner with Eataly, the celebrated temple of Italian food, to showcase to the world what both of our companies do best: honor innovation and quality with true Italian passion,” says Andrea Favaretto Rubelli, co-CEO of Rubelli.

In addition, Rubelli has been honored with the 2014 Leonardo Prize for Italian Quality. The prize is awarded to companies “that have shown distinction and excellence internationally for products made in Italy.”

Expo Milano 2015 will continue now through October 31.
