Humanscale Table and Task Chair Receive Full Living Product Certification

The Living Product Challenge is a rigorous standard for sustainable manufacturing presented by the International Living Future Institute. Humanscale recently became the first manufacturer to achieve full certification for its Float table, a sit-stand desk made with recycled steel, and Diffrient Smart seat, an ergonomic mesh task chair.

The program is designed to recognize products that are made using renewable energy and through processes that keep the water balance level. Humanscale has made significant commitments to sustainability at its production facilities. Rainwater capture systems at plants filter water used for production, ensuring that no chemicals end up in the final products. Additionally, the facilities use compost systems to process waste, among other initiatives that ensure that production meets net-positive standards.

To receive Living Product certification, companies must fulfill a wide range of "imperatives" in categories such as energy, water, and materials. While other manufacturers have received partial certification by meeting certain key imperatives, Humanscale is the first company to meet the full suite of challenges presented.
